A few days ago, someone asked me in an interview, “What are the health benefits of Face Yoga?” I didn’t even know where to begin. Many people are doing Face Yoga to lift their face naturally and improve their complexion for a more radiant youthful look. Some of you might think, why should I even start? I will never have the discipline to do the exercises.  But did you know that practicing Face Yoga has an incredible amount of health benefits?

In fact, there is such a long list that it compelled me to write this article.

Health Benefits of Face Yoga

♥     Increase blood circulation to remove toxins, reduce inflammation on the skin (e.g., pimples) and improve your skin health.

♥    It strengthens the facial muscles and tongue.

♥    It can help to prevent migraines and headaches.

♥    Release tension in jaw, neck and shoulder (TMJ).

♥    Mobilizes and Realigns jaw joints.

♥    Can prevent teeth grinding.

♥    Stress release through conscious breathing and removing tension in the facial muscles.

♥    It can reduce high blood pressure by calming down the nervous system.

♥    Face Yoga helps to coordinate the facial muscles to improve articulation and speech.

♥    Face Yoga helps to strengthen and prepare muscles and vocal cords for

♥    It prevents droopy eyelids and, therefore, preserves the full spectrum of the visual field.

♥    It helps to realign the neck, shoulder and spine.

♥    Through Face Yoga, you can restore your face symmetry.

♥    It makes you feel happier. Through exercising the smile muscles, your brain releases tiny molecules called neuropeptides to help fight off stress. Other neurotransmitters like dopamine, serotonin and endorphins come into play too. The endorphins act as a mild pain reliever, and serotonin is an antidepressant.

♥    Exercising the facial and especially the jaw muscles can prevent the jaw from shrinking, helping to keep a healthy jaw shape.

♥    Exercising the facial muscles reduces the effect of aging when the bone structure starts receding. Researchers found reductions in the angles of the brow, nose, and upper jawbones occur as we age.

♥    Face Yoga teaches the correct tongue position, which helps you breathe through the nose. It is an essential part of good health.

♥    Face Yoga might fix long term neck issues.

♥    Some Face Yoga eye exercises can improve vision.

♥    It boosts your confidence.

♥    It is a great treatment for Bell’s Palsy to regain muscle function and coordination as well as a symmetrical face.

♥    By releasing tension in the scalp muscles and increasing blood circulation, it can stimulate hair growth.
